The idea and eagerness to make wine sparks from Gülşen Boztepe. “This endeavour started as a hobby in 2012 and evolved from the existing vineyards into a 60-acre area of fine wine grapes,” Ercan Boztepe summarises their wild adventure. Indeed, Sobran’s arrival of a completely fresh vision in this table grape area of the Gediz basin proves the potential of generating added value by cultivating quality wine grapes in the “Green Sea.”

What began as a passionate adventure with “Early sweet” grapes became a more professional one, with Mr Boztepe getting so involved in the winery that he suffered from carbon dioxide poisoning in the tanks and Mrs Boztepe receiving academic training on the subject. Ercan Boztepe, who pursued his university education in Germany, signed with the famous oenologist Hermann-Josef Kreuzberg, known for his successful red wines in the Ahr region, for their first productions. And under Kreuzberg’s guidance, they took the first steps of the winery.
